Queen’s University Confers Honourary Doctorate to United Way Toronto’s President and CEO
On Thursday, October 29, 2009, Queen's University conferred an honourary doctorate of law degree to United Way Toronto’s President and CEO, Frances Lankin.
Frances is receiving this award in recognition of a lifetime spent in service to her community. She was a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) and cabinet minister for many years before joining United Way Toronto — but today, Frances is best known for her leadership in the non-profit sector. Since 2001, she has guided United Way Toronto to become a leading community builder that works to strengthen Toronto’s neighbourhoods and create opportunities for a better life for everyone.
This honourary doctorate is the latest of several awards to recognize Frances, and it speaks volumes not just about her personal passion and commitment, but also about the importance and impact of the work that’s done every day at United Way.
Congratulations, Frances.
